A network of bayous and shipping channels converge on Houma, creating a crisscross of busy waterways within the city. Many streets are two-lane avenues split down the middle by canals plied by small vessels, and the sight of shrimp boats docked just before their skippers’ homes is as common as the family minivan parked in front of other American households. Houma is widely considered the de facto capital of deep bayou country, and here the many pleasures of the region’s robust culture are easily accessible. The city is the jumping-off point for countless charter fishing adventures, birding expeditions and swamp tours along the ecologically rich wetlands stretching out toward the Gulf, while the Native American tribe of the United Houma Nation is headquartered here and hosts frequent cultural events. Boisterous Mardi Gras celebrations consume the city each year, while dance halls and restaurants showcase the region’s Cajun heritage every day.

Baton Rouge is a city on the Mississippi River, and the capital of Louisiana. Antebellum landmarks include the castle-like Old Louisiana State Capitol, now a museum, and Magnolia Mound Plantation, with its French Creole house. LSU Rural Life Museum is a complex of refurbished buildings illustrating 18th- and 19th-century life.
As the capital city of Louisiana, Baton Rouge is the heart and soul of the state’s eclectic culture. With over 300 years of history, Baton Rouge has a colorful story to tell, which can be tasted through our culinary offerings, seen through the picturesque views of the Mississippi River and historical landmarks and experienced through the vibrant arts and culture scene. In the “Red Stick,” every day is worth celebrating, even more so through our festivals and events held throughout the year. So, sit back, relax and let us make the planning easy – we’ll be waiting to welcome you with Southern hospitality and an authentic Louisiana experience!

Located between Tampa and Lakeland, Plant City was named after railroad developer Henry B. Plant. The town of Plant City is known as the Winter Strawberry Capital of the World and hosts the annual Florida Strawberry Festival. Stretching back more than 80 years, this Plant City festival bursts with midway hilarity, on-stage entertainment (much of it free), livestock and, of course, plenty of ways to eat strawberries. There even is a footrace for those who haven’t gotten carried away with too much food. While in town, don’t miss the Plant City Bing Rooming House Museum, which promotes the proud heritage of one of only two National African-American Landmarks in Hillsborough County. Both were established to preserve African American history.
